We’ve been big fans of Allen & Heath’s live digital mixers for a long time – link.eavh.co.uk/Allen_Heath – , and we’re now adding the SQ6 to our range. The SQ will create a bridge between the QU and dLive as it ‘talks’ natively at 96khz with the DX168, but also 48khz with the AB series of stage boxes & extenders. We can also network the SQ to the CDM32 to use as a monitor console or satellite mixer – when connected all the inputs & outputs of the SQ appear on the GigAce network, and with gain sharing can utilise inputs & outputs of the dLive system.
The SQ range are all 48 channel, 36 bus mixers offering class-leading high-resolution audio fidelity and an ultra-low latency of <0.7ms.
The first job out the door will be with our C2500 at Excel for Hart Wilcox, where a 900 capacity plenary will be controlled by the C2500, but then with a 20 min turnaround the room splits in half, with half the speakers & radio mic’s etc. remaining in use in each room. The SQ will then take over the inputs & outputs (on a DX168) in one of these rooms, while the dLive continues next door.
