We’ve launched a new initiative to get a second-life out of the batteries we use everyday.
In the live broadcast & events environment it’s generally not possible to run a radio back until the battery runs out, you can’t have a radio failing half-way through an important presentation simply because of a cheap battery. As far as we can we re-use these part-used batteries in non-essential items, but we have way too many.
Instead of just recycling, we decided to start distributing these to schools in Essex for then to use, they can then return the batteries when they are finished for us to send on for recycling.
It’s early days of the initiative, so we’ll report back on the results after the first round of schools have tried the service out.
